My Experience at Berwick Borough Housing
Over the past
seven months I have worked at Berwick Borough Housing I have found the staff a
pleasure to work with. The staff all gave me tasks to do and they treated me
like a fellow co-worker. I found that I could ask for tasks that needed doing
and feel confident about it.
I was mostly kept
busy sorting the incoming mail and logging it onto the post received
spreadsheet, filing repair tickets from the tenants who are in need of house
repairs, logging returned and signed Tenancy Agreements onto the system and
identifying incomplete tenancy agreements, filing household documents into the
correct house files and other general tasks like franking the outgoing mail,
photocopying or scanning invoices and filing them in date order.
I also got to
attend the ‘Pride in Prior’ (Prior is part of Berwick on Tweed), which was
painting tiles with the children in Prior about playing safe. I helped when the
children when the asked for help and helped to tidy up afterwards.
I attended an
open day at the Swan Centre which explained changes to the way people would
apply for houses starting on September 3rd 2009. I put 100% effort
into all the tasks and the staff picked up on that straight away and
complemented me on what I was doing for them.
It was my
birthday during the placement and I found it overwhelmingly kind of David Brown
and Maureen Hattle to buy me a present and a cake! I shared the cake with people
in the office to show my appreciation.
If there were any
jobs going at Berwick Borough Housing I would definitely be the first to hand in
an application form or CV.
