Transgression Park Provides a Huge Hit with Skateboarders from Berwick

Transgression Skatepark has been placed in the perfect spot in Leith for anyone. Just 15mins on the bus from central Edinburgh and 15mins from the A1. Based in Ocean Terminal the shopping centre provides the best location for the skatepark to be built bringing skateboarders, in liners and bmxers from all over the country and globe to skate here as competitively or as relaxed as they want. Ken Smith and his band of coaches teach people who have just learned to stand on a skateboard or ride a BMX all the way up to professional skateboarders and pro bmxers. Now who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!

As a vert skateboarder (deals with halfpipes or bowls) I know a mixture of easy and difficult tricks but with the coach supplied by Transgression, I learned a few park moves from the three disciplines of skateboarding, Vert, Street and Park. Transgression supplies all three disciplines at one venue. I decided to take myself away from being a vert skateboarder for the day and attempt street and park disciplines for once finding both disciplines, with the coach’s help, extremely excellent.

I asked some of the people in the group whoTransgression Ocean Terminal Edinburgh went to Transgression what they thought of the skatepark and most of them thought it was unbelievable due to the mixture of disciplines to do. Then I asked what their favourite part of the park was and Michael said the box as he is a street skater, where as Alex said the bowls as he is a vert skater. Everyone tried everything that was thrown at them.

We managed to get quite a few videos and pictures taken. At the end of our two hour session we got two free Transgression stickers as well as having a great look round the different items in the Transgression shop which has a variety of decks and ranges of other items from T-shirts to skateboard trucks and even mini old-School skateboards.

Transgression skateboard parkEverybody couldn’t stop talking about the stuff we were doing on the way home and we will definitely return and skate at Transgression again. We rate Transgression Skatepark (on a scale of 10) A Huge 10 out of 10.

A huge thank you to Ken Smith and the coach’s at Transgression Park for teaching us and having us there to skate.  Also a big thank you to the Beehive in the Berwick Youth Project for spending the time and cash to take us up to skate at Transgression Skatepark.
